January 20 – Strategies and Options for Publishing by guest speaker Casey Dorman, novelist, poet, publisher, & editor-in-chief of Lost Coast Review.

February 17 – Publishing Paths series: Scott Galasso, VPC member and author of 13 poetry books, will share his publishing and marketing experience. // We will also hold the annual Officer Elections by members. Click here for details.

March 16 – Self-Publish Using CreateSpace: Miranda McPhee, VPC member and self-published author, will talk about how to get from an idea in your head tvso a book in your hand.

April 20 – Proofing, Publishing and Beyond: Guest speaker Cindy Kluger from Magic Wand Author Services will talk about services that are available to help writers and self-published authors, from setting up author platforms to proofreading, writing social media updates, publishing and marketing.

May 18 –  How to Be Seen and Heard: Joan Schumm, VPC member and author, will speak on Reaching Your Readers. Publishing Paths: VPC member Brenda Barrie has published three novels, and will share her publishing and marketing strategy with us.

June 15 – .Show ‘n’ Tell session on marketing strategies – what members have tried, the marketing products they use, what works and what doesn’t. Help Me, Help You: A chance to share and find out what other members have been doing in terms of publishing and marketing. Chat with other club members over hors d’oeuvres, discover new opportunities, find resources, and avoid publishing potholes.

July 20 – Self-publishing and Self-promotion for Poets: Guest speaker Raindog Armstrong is a small press publisher who has 18 chapbooks and 9 books to his name, and is the operator of the Lummox Press.

August 17 – Smaller books, chap books, and private distribution – Guest speaker Don Kingfisher-Campbell will talk about publishing chapbooks and smaller books that people want to publish in small quantities and often just distribute privately among friends and family.

September 21 – Annual Storytelling Event, 4-7pm.

October 19 – Getting Checked Out –  Guest speaker Grace Barnes, Senior Branch Manager of El Toro Library, will be talking about how libraries choose what books to stock, and how readers browse and find books to read (including yours).

November 30 – Storytelling & Author event: From 10am-2pm in the main lounge/patio of Clubhouse One, we will have continuous original storytelling and the opportunity to meet published authors.

December 21 – Holiday Party
